Child Support Adjustments

April 22, 2022

Spring is not only the time to get your house and backyard in order for the summer, it is the season to address some annual family law matters, including income tax deductions, child support reviews and summer parenting.

Child Support Adjustments

Once income tax returns are completed, it is expected that parents will exchange those income tax returns, notices of assessment or reassessment, and supporting documentation with each other.  Most agreements or orders provide for this to occur in May or June each year.  Once income information is exchanged, child support payable can be assessed and adjusted if necessary.  If you have a recent Child Support Order, that Order will likely contain a clause permitting the amount of child support to be adjusted through the Child Support Recalculation Office.  If you do not have such an Order, or do not qualify for that program, please contact our office and we would be happy to advise you on any adjustments.
