Karen is an associate lawyer in the McKercher LLP Saskatoon office.
Karen’s practice focuses on Corporate and Commercial Law, employer-side Immigration Law, Agribusiness, and Estate Planning.
Her immigration practice is national in scope and centres on advising employers and corporations on the recruitment and retention of international employees, managers, and executives. She regularly advises clients on work permit strategies under the International Mobility Program, including intra-company transferees, Significant Benefit, Francophone Mobility, and other LMIA-exempt work permit categories, as well as work permits under international trade agreements, such as the Canada–United States–Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), and other international trade agreements. Karen also assists clients with Provincial Nominee Programs in Saskatchewan (SINP) and across Canada, Express Entry applications, Canadian citizenship applications, and employer compliance obligations.
Karen was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. In 2020, she obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the American University of Nicaragua, where her parents are from. Following she obtained her LLM in Canadian Common Law and Business Law in 2022 from Osgoode Hall Law School.
Outside of the office, Karen enjoys spending time with her family and friends and travelling.
